The free agency period of League of Legends is in full swing and one of the biggest moves thus far is Team SoloMid adding Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup. The move was reported on ESPN's League of Legends Free Agent Live Show.
Kobbe is a big pickup for TSM. The Danish player has been with Splyce since 2015 and has been seen as a very consistent player for the team. The veteran splits from Splyce after helping it reach the 2019 LoL World Championship quarterfinals, where it was defeated by SK Telecom T1.
This roster update comes after TSM announced another major transaction earlier in the day. The North American squad traded Andy "Smoothie" Ta to Counter Logic Gaming for Vincent "Biofrost" Wang. Biofrost played for TSM in 2016 and 2017 and helped the team post some of its most successful competitive years to date.
Team SoloMid is looking for a major boost after an ugly 2019 season. After a second-place run in the 2019 LCS Spring Split, the team had its hopes of qualifying for Worlds 2019 dashed after being defeated by underdog Clutch Gaming in the regional gauntlet. Though the team ultimately fell just one game short of making the cut, seeing one of League's most popular brands fall short was a shock to many.
Many League of Legends fans blamed TSM's poor performance in 2019 on their unstable jungle. Throughout the year, TSM switched junglers three times, with Matthew "Akaadian" Higginbotham, Jonathan "Grig" Armao, and Mingyi "Spica" Lu all trying to plug that hole.
While adding Kobbe and Biofrost seems to be a step in the right direction, TSM still needs to find itself a new, full-time jungler. Expect the full lineup to revealed over the coming days.
